Leicester Riders have signed DeAndre Burnett to replace the injured Niem Stevenson.
The rookie guard, who joins out of the University of Mississippi, will make his debut in Thursdayâ€
s Basketball Champions League qualifier against Bakken Bears.
Stevenson had incurred a knee injury and with battles on domestic and overseas fronts this season, Riders coach Rob Paternostro had no option but to shuffle his deck.
“He had hyper-extended his knee so badly that we were worried it would be something he’d be dealing with all year,” he said. “But DeAndre was available and he’s coming out of a great programme at Ole Miss.
“I also felt in pre-season that we needed a little extra scoring. We’d been struggling there a bit so I think he will help us.”
